How To Make Multiple Tasks Easier
Date: 03/01/2016Here are some suggestions if you need to do many things and feel pressured and overwhelmed to get them all done on time. First, make a list of all the projects or chores that you need to get done. Include those that you would like to do but never seem to have enough time for.
Include the dates you have promised to complete the tasks or dates you have been given to accomplish the assignment. Avoid an unrealistic promise to complete a job. It is far better to get something done early than it is to be late. Also make sure that you have some idea when a job is expected to be done. In other words, don’t just say you will do something without some idea of when the person wants the work completed.
If you are delayed or think you are going to be late, don’t just allow the due date to pass without warning anyone expecting the completion on a specific time. Explain the reasons for the delay and the need for a revised schedule.
The way you should handle a large amount of different assignments is similar to the invisible way a computer allocates processing among many requests. A computer will handle requests for processing small amounts of data before it completes a request for processing a large amount of data. Otherwise, those many small requests would be required to wait an inordinately long time. Instead a certain amount of time is given to the large job and then a small amount of time is given to the small job before doing some more processing of the large job.
In other words, do a little bit on the small jobs before completing very large jobs. Keep tract of your progress. Compare it with the jobs queued and waiting to be completed. It is better to tell requesters you are working on assignments or that they are partially completed rather than say you have not had any time to work on them. Keep track of your finished assignments by crossing them off the list with the time completed. You will be amazed how much you have really accomplished
